scanner is brek
I can't scan new images this week as our Scanner went thunk and decided that black is the new black.
So I'm cross-posting last months entry for [info]whoresofmensa's drawing challenge, my drawing of Julia Kristeva.

I love the cut paper. Is there an optimal kind of glue for putting something like this together? Do you use gesso or something? I want to do more collage, but I want to use heavy duty (and archival) materials...

Or is it actually gloss acrylic medium that is used?

Hey David! Nothing so fancy, I just use paper glue sticks. Pritt stick I'd call it in England, I'm not sure what the brand name is here.
I guess I don't make them to last, other than stickingthem in a mylar bag once I'm done....maybe I should try modge podge or something.

I also use glue sticks. I feel like it's time I found something more archival though. :)

A mistake I've heard a lot of people make is gluing a project together with rubber cement. It's great for a design project where you might want to peel something off and move it around. But for a long term work of art, it's not going to last.

I made a 3D paper and foam-core sculpture a few years back, and I found a craft glue that dried clear and was super strong. I forget the name of it. I should try more 'crafting' stuff, but there's only so much time in the day...
